Key strategies for energy management

Since humans are energy systems living in an energetic universe, energy management is vital to our happiness!

To help you use your mental energy and physical energy productively, I suggest the following.

1. Manage your mental energy

Beware of the quality of your thinking.

Because thoughts are energy!

Quality thinking or what I call, high-vibe thinking™ uses the power of thought to increase your energy!

When you think high-vibe, you’re diverting your focus from negative, limited, fear-based thinking to more productive thinking.

In a high-vibe life, you bring higher vibes into your daily existence.

Additionally, high-vibe thinking™ promotes positive emotions of resilience and overall well-being.

The more mental energy that’s spent on overthinking and negative thinking, the more energy you’ll waste.

2. Manage negative emotions

Negative feelings describe any emotions that lower the optimal functioning of the body.

These emotions are totally valid… AND they create stress, emotional pain, burnout, etc.

The best way to manage emotional energy is to allow it. Feel it.

You’ve heard, the only way past is through?

That’s how emotions work in the body.

As you do the inner work, you’ll experience more positive emotions and personal energy.

Do the work, without a doubt, raises your vibration because you’re moving heavy, dense energy out of the body.

 3. Prioritize Sleep

Quality sleep is the cornerstone of happy energy management.

Because when we sleep, we recovery, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night to allow your body and mind to recharge fully.

Sleep experts say that we need a minimum of 7 hours a night and people who say they need less… well, they’re depriving themselves of much needed recovery time.

3. Nutrition and Hydration

Fuel your body with nutritious foods and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Avoid excessive caffeine and sugary snacks, as they can lead to energy crashes.

There is so much evidence that nutrition and energy are directly related.

4. Physical Activity

Regular exercise not only boosts your energy but also enhances mental clarity and mood.

It’s a necessary part of any self-care routine.

Incorporate activities you enjoy, whether it’s a brisk walk, yoga session, or gym workout.

Netflix recently did a show called The Blue Zones and found that regular physical activity was a strong contributing factor to longevity. 

5. Mindfulness and Relaxation

Practicing mindfulness techniques such as meditation or deep breathing exercises can help reduce stress levels and conserve energy.

Take short breaks throughout the day to recharge and refocus.

Self-observation can be useful during your meditation.

6. Setting Boundaries

Learn to say no to tasks or commitments that drain your energy without adding value to your life.

Establishing boundaries keeps you sane and allows you to prioritize activities that align with your goals and values.

7. Beware of energy vampires

Setting boundaries is especially crucial with energy vampires.

They drain your life force!

And, you don’t have to allow that! 

Energy vampires are individuals or situations that consistently drain your energy, leaving you feeling depleted and exhausted.

They may include toxic people, bad vibes, stressful environments, or unproductive habits that negatively impact your well-being.

There’s science to good and bad vibes, so there’s proof that it’s not your imagination!

My genuine feeling about the energy suckers, recognize the people or circumstances that sap your energy…. and avoid them like the plague.

Are there specific individuals, tasks, or environments that are soul crushing and consistently leave you feeling drained?

Establish clear boundaries to protect your energy! Learn to say no to requests or interactions that deplete you without offering value in return.

It’s one thing to be kind to others, it’s another to allow them to drain your energy levels!

So, minimize your exposure to energy vampires whenever possible to protect your own precious energy.

Even permit yourself to distance yourself from toxic relationships or environments that leave you feeling drained.

By managing energy vampires effectively, you can preserve your energy and focus on activities that nourish your well-being and productivity.

8. Hit pause regularly for your energy levels

Take real breaks – don’t just switch activities. Truly disconnect and recharge with activities you enjoy.

Go for a walk outdoors, read a good book, or listen to music.

Or, do nothing! If your energy capacity is low, do nothing but look out the window and notice the birds, the sky, and anything passing by!

If others are around and think it’s strange, let them assume you’re doing some valuable thinking.

9. Increase soul vibes

As a soul coach, I pay attention to the soul pretty much all day long.

I coined the term soul vibes to describe vibrations that connect you to the soul.

Since the soul is the essence of your being, lean into it to protect your energy.

Find ways to feed the soul, nourish the soul, and care for the soul each day to preserve your precious energy.

Physical energy levels

Your physical energy levels will fluctuate throughout the day, depending on what you’re doing.

Self-observeAre you enjoying yourself… or drudging through a project you hate?

Obviously, your energy levels will be dramatically different in each.

But typically, we don’t get to enjoy ourselves all the time.

There are jobs to be done and someone has to do them*, so what do we do?

Managing your energy: final thoughts

Managing your energy is not just about staying busy or doing nothing.

It’s about optimizing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being to lead a more fulfilling life.

As you manage your energy more efficiently, you have improved physical health, positive thoughts, and more energy!
