We’re constantly bombarded with external pressures and inner critics, making it hard to prioritize self love.

Self-love is necessary to support the soul’s purpose.

I created three self love habits to help my clients cultivate self love.

And to help you connect with your soul, here are 6 things to do.

These 3 habits, when practiced regularly, will move you much further along your journey.

Self-love is essential to evolve the soul.

Self love Habit #1: I keep my thoughts high-quality

Keep self love at the center of your thinking.

Typically, when we’re early in our self love journey, negative thoughts ruin your headspace.

Fear-based thinking and I’m not enough thinking happen without realizing it.

So, this takes self awareness and mindfulness about your thinking.

To cultivate self love, use these affirmations daily!

Your thoughts have an energy frequency that you must take advantage of.

Committing to the self-love journey is essential for living a high-vibe life.

I do not let negative, fear-based thinking stand in the way of my soul’s expression in this life.

While I am human and some negative thinking is inevitable, I know negative thoughts increase pain and make difficult situations much worse. 

Therefore, I practice keeping my thoughts supportive, expansive, vitalizing, comforting, empathetic, and empowering. 

I am the thinker choosing high vibration thoughts until they become a habit. 

Read that each day… and watch your self love increase as you’re placing it in the center of your focus.

Your own happiness depends on your ability to own this critical habit.

Your soul’s evolution depends on this self-love habit!

Affirmations for emotional wellbeing

I feel my emotions because it’s healthy for my body, mind and spirit. 

I know that unexpressed emotion remains in the body. 

I know that I am human and my emotions are telling me something. 

I do not ignore, distract, repress, or judge how I feel.  I allow time and space to feel. 

I know there are no wrong emotions. 

I express my emotions in a way that respects others.

When I feel regret or remorse for something I’ve said or done, I express that as well. 

I live in a state of forgiveness toward myself.

I am a feeling human being in a feeling universe.

Self Love Habit #3: I live in the space of letting go

Letting go is one of the hardest things to do in life… and the most important.

If we feel and hold on… we cannot grow. We cannot heal.

Along my own self-love journey I’ve had to show up for my fear, shame, guilt, regret, you name it literally thousands of times.

It’s OK.

This is part of what the soul is here for… to heal and move on.

Express your emotions regularly, to help you along the self-love journey.

I surrender. 

I acknowledge that my life is a co-creation between me and a greater power. 

My outcome IS NOT set in stone. 

I have free will. 

I take responsibility for my choices. 

I am learning and evolving.

I know that as I let go of trying to control people and situations, I free myself. 

I live in the space of letting go. 

Honoring the needs of the soul 

Honoring the needs of the soul is the biggest part of soul-centric living.

As a soul coach, I am passionate about this idea: Self love is necessary to fulfill your soul’s destiny.

Your relationship with the soul will enhance your relationship with yourself.

So, when you respect your soul, you honor and consider sacred your relationship with yourself… while respecting the needs of others.  

When questioning if something is right for you or not, you honor your own feelings about it, your own soulful needs regarding it. 

You look at how it affects others because you desire the highest good. Then, you feel resolved to move in the direction of the soul.

Additional Strategies For Your Journey

In addition to the self love habits above, add these practices to your life.

Your own happiness depends on emotional well-being

I have to underline the importance of feeling your emotions over time with the willingness and ability to allow them to move through you.

So, I’m mentioning it here again…

We must use emotional release methods of some kind along our self love journey, so that we don’t carry the past forward with us.

Practice Self-Compassion

Extend the same compassion to yourself that you would to a loved one facing challenges.

Acknowledge your struggles without judgment, and offer yourself kindness and understanding.

Prioritize Self-Care

Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine.

This includes nourishing your body with healthy food, getting adequate rest, engaging in activities that bring you joy, and setting boundaries to protect your well-being.

Tend to the mind, body, and soul with loving care.

Challenge Negative Self-Talk

Become aware of the negative self-talk patterns that undermine your self-worth.

A phenomenal book for this subject is What You Say When You Talk To Yourself by Shad Helmstetter.

Whenever you catch yourself engaging in self-criticism, challenge those thoughts by reframing them in a more positive and empowering light.

Keep a journal of self-talk… so that you’ll remember which negative thoughts you tend to have week to week.

Set healthy boundaries

No is an ok answer!!!

Learn to say no to things that drain your energy or compromise your values.

Setting boundaries is an act of self-respect that allows you to prioritize your needs and protect your emotional health.

Be grateful as a regular part of your day

Along the self love journey, have an attitude of gratitude.

See gratitude in all of the good that comes your way.

Even some of the bad can lead to good…. so notice that too.

Reflect on the things you appreciate about yourself and your life.

Focusing on the positives in you own life can help shift your mindset toward greater self love and abundance.

Embrace imperfection

Recognize that perfection is unattainable and even stupid!

Right?

Making mistakes is a natural part of being human!

On your self discovery journey, embrace your imperfections as opportunities for your soul’s learning and growth.

The soul is here to fulfill it’s destiny, and this includes soul lessons.

Celebrate progress

Remember that self-love is a journey, not a destination.

Celebrate your progress, no matter how small!

Be patient with yourself each step of the way. Each step you take toward loving yourself more deeply is a significant achievement worthy of acknowledgment.

Self-doubt keeps you from your potential

Self doubt creates low self esteem, because you keep standing in your own way.

Choose self love over self doubt.

In my book, The Butterfly Silhouette, about a caterpillar who doubts she can be a butterfly, she must crawl through self doubt, fear, and lack of belief in the bigger picture of her life.

This is a process and takes time.

On your own journey, lean into the doubt. This means you must feel it and honor it.

Then, remind yourself that your doubt is keeping you from your soul purpose.

And that’s NOT ok.

Positive self-talk is critical

Positive self-talk. is crucial for cultivating self-love because it shapes our perception of ourselves and influences our emotional well-being.

Supportive self-talk helps us counteract negative thoughts and beliefs, creating a more compassionate and accepting attitude towards ourselves.

By affirming our worth, capabilities, and potential, we boost self-confidence, which are a big part of self-love.

Self-talk is so critical because it helps to challenge and reframe negative self-beliefs, allowing us to see our strengths and achievements, rather than focusing on perceived shortcomings.

Positive self-talk means a positive inner dialogue that tells you… I have compassion for myself and I forgive myself for my mistakes.

This is obviously the opposite of being harsh with yourself and criticizing yourself every time you say the wrong thing.

Embarking on a journey of self-love requires courage, commitment, and compassion.
